For fun in the snow and light terrain is a 2WD ATV fine? The 4x4's price is unreal.?

We have a small sport now and the boys love riding it. Im wondering besides the carrying ability what the driving difference between the sport and utility? Weve only taken the sport out about 20 times since it never runs right even after getting it fixed. Any thing else would be greatly appreciated that I may have missed. Thank you.
