Should I subscribe to these magazines?

I was thinking of subscribing to The Economist and The New Yorker. I understand the Economist is met for a more literate audience, and I fit into that. I'm just wondering if these two magazines will provide a relatively complete picture to politics? I'm thinking the Economist will get the more right-sided view of things and The New Yorker the left side.
