Is it safe to have a 40" LCD shipped?

We are looking into purchasing a LCD and have found it on amazon for much less than anywhere else, I am a little worried about it coming damaged or something damaging inside. They do ship it buy courier not ups or fedex. Has anyone had one shipped and what do you recommended?
