Help with asus motherboard, P (something) D-E, socket 1366. hdd detection problems.?

so i get through bios, the marvell thing comes up. bios version blah blah blah, then i get to "no hard drives detected" what??? so it restarts on its own, goes through bios again, but this time it is able to boot off the intel ssd i have installed, wtf? how can i fix this non sense?
